The Minister of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton, Adnan Steta, signed the Contract for the procurement of 25 new trolleybuses. BKM Holding from Belarus was selected in an international tender conducted in accordance with the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD.

The total value of the signed contract is EUR 14,014,914, the Protocol and Press Service of Canton Sarajevo announced.

”As we promised at the beginning of 2019, in the first part of our mandate, that we will do everything to improve public transport in Sarajevo Canton, especially through the procurement of environmentally friendly means of transport, we welcomed the day to sign a contract for new trolleybuses,” Steta said.

The first trolleybus should be delivered in December 2021 or January 2022, and the complete delivery of all vehicles is expected by July 2022.

”In addition to the procurement of new trolleybuses, we are going to expand the trolleybus network to Vogosca. We expect to announce a tender this year, select a contractor, and complete the work by 2022. After that, we will procure an additional 10 trolleybuses, in order to have a ‘fleet’ of 35 vehicles,” announced Minister Steta.

The vehicles will have a minimum of 35 seats and a minimum capacity of 130 passengers. The vehicles will also be equipped with a passenger information system, which will consist of a display and speakers in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, through which the next stations on the vehicle route will be announced, and other information will be given. All displays are equipped with LEDs, and will be easily visible. The interior will also be fitted with LCD monitors with video display capabilities.
