Radicalism, extremism, and terrorism are problems that the whole world, including BiH, is facing with. However, our country made a progress in the fight against this, and the academic community provided a great role in preventing and understanding these three segments.
In the first place are the professors at the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo, who are working for the safe future of all citizens of BiH in constant cooperation with the Ministry of Security of BiH and other institutions in charge of law enforcement. This faculty is the host of an international conference called “Crimen, Forensis, Securitas – CSF 2017”, which is held within the 17th Days of Criminal Sciences.
“The goal is to present the latest research done in the field of criminalistics, criminology and security studies. This faculty is traditionally organizing this kind of events for 17 years with the aim to demonstrate projects from these scientific areas to our domestic and regional public. In this way, we collect all information on new trends and we enable young people to get involved through research work. We have very good results,” said Prof. Dr. Elmedin Muratbegovic, the President of the Scientific Committee of the Day of Criminal Sciences.
“We need to attack this thing in its root through new laws, regulations, new practices, operational procedures and new staff,” emphasized Prof. Muratbegovic.
According to the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektic, our country has proven capacities and scientific workers with whom they regularly cooperate, and he added that all scientific disciplines that are dealing with security challenges must be involved in creating security policies in BiH in order to respond to security challenges.
