217 New Landslides in Canton Sarajevo

tuzla landslidesToday, an extraordinary presentation on the state of the landslides in the Sarajevo Canton was held in the premises of the Department of Construction of Canton Sarajevo. Great rainfalls during May this year caused moving of the ground that were recorded at 217 sites in the canton.

Mr. Fuad Babic, the coordinator of the Institute for landslides of the Department for Construction of Canton Sarajevo, presented the data. In addition, on behalf of the municipality Center of Canton Sarajevo, the Head of Department for Municipal Affairs, Đenita Bogunic-Kešelj presented as well.

“Weather disasters brought new problems. In addition to the registered landslides, there are 217 new locations to which we must go out and determine whether they are genuine landslides. The municipality center reported 26 new potential landslides, Old Town 12, Novo Sarajevo 3, Novi Grad 14, Ilidža 13, Vogošca 133, Ilidža 11 and Hadzici 6”, said Babic.
