Opposition leader Lapid: Netanyahu has lost the Trust of the Israeli Public

The leader of the Israeli opposition party “Yesh Atid” Yair Lapid said today that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost the trust of the Israeli public.

“We are two months into the war and the state of Israel still has no plans for the day after the war,” Lapid said during a party meeting, The Times of Israel reported.

“There is no organized diplomatic effort during the war, no unified system of public diplomacy, no organized economic plan to deal with the damage to the economy. There is no one to deal with reservists. In short: no government.”

“We have a prime minister who has lost the trust of the security establishment, the economic system and the majority of people and the world,” Lapid emphasized.

The opposition leader earlier called for the election of a new prime minister to lead the government in Netanyahu’s place.

Netanyahu is facing mounting criticism for failing to acknowledge responsibility for the October 7 cross-border attack by Hamas.

A recent public opinion poll conducted by the Lazar Research Institute for the Israeli daily Maariv showed that only 27 percent of Israelis believe that Netanyahu is the right person to run the government.

The survey showed that 49 percent of Israelis believe that Benny Gantz, the leader of the National Unity Party, is the best figure to lead the government.
