One of the most important dates in the recent history of B&H is 25 November, and it was then that the foundations of the modern state of B&H were laid. This was the message sent today at the press conference on occasion of the marking of the 70 years of the State Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of B&H (ZAVNOB&H). The alliance of anti-fascists and WWII veterans of B&H (SABNOR) are again the main organizers of this year’s program that will celebrate to the public the reaffirmed lasting value of these historical events. Despite the lack of support from state institutions, various segments of the program will mark the memory of the anti-fascist struggle and promote achievements of ZAVNOB&H.
‘’We are convinced that we in SABNOR should not mark this date, but rather the state that inherited all the values from 1943’’, said Josip Baotić, the President of SABNOR. He said that unfortunately, this date would not be marked in a dignified manner without SABNOR. At the literary and art competition ‘My Homeland B&H’, more than one thousand works arrived, and this was done with the help of the B&H Ministry of Science and Education and implemented in all elementary and high schools. On this occasion, Minister Damir Mašić said ‘’Children are the pillar on which our country needs to be developed and this is why the Ministry considers it its obligation to participate in this way in the celebration of this important jubilee, whose goal is to reaffirm the achievements of this event in order to foster love for the homeland’’.
Of the total 108 literary and art works, 6 artistic and 6 literary works will be awarded, and the prize fund amounts to 4500 BAM. The artistic works will be presented at the official ceremony marking 25 November, while the literary works will be read at similar manifestations throughout B&H. The central event will take place on 25 November in Mrkonjić Grad.
