conference UNNone of BH politicians will dare to publicly obstruct the path of European integrations of BiH, because it means peace, stability, and economic prosperity, as announced at the International Conference “Bosnia and Herzegovina: The political situation and development perspectives”, which was organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of independence and admission of BiH to the United Nations on May 22, 1992.

The aim of the conference is the evaluation of the international and national importance of 25 years of international recognition of BiH for lives of its citizens and peoples, the evaluation of reflexes of that event on BH neighbors and critical summary of the political and social scope of these events in general. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Sarajevo.

Tatjana Ljujic – Mijatovic, member of the Presidency of RBiH in the period 1992 – 1996 and the Ambassador of BiH to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, who is in charge for numerous projects of reconstruction and development of BiH, stated that this mission has the task of contacting with countries that were donors in various projects with other representatives, particularly UNDP.

“A lot of projects were planned, a lot has been done, but the war was not over yet. So we had the opportunity to do something for our country on a mission before the war was even over,” noted Mijatovic.

Admission of BiH as a member of the UN that took place on May 22, 1992, was very important because BiH got the opportunity to meet with a lot of international organizations, stated Mijatovic.

“As a historian, I can say that two things are unquestionable when it comes to BiH. These are internationally recognized and historical borders of BiH and constituency of peoples on the entire territory of BiH,” said Milivoj Beslin from the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade.

According to him, May 22, is very important for BiH, because the international community confirmed these characteristics.

“I do not think that people are running away from these facts, but the nationalist elite is, and that is a big difference. So, nationalist ideology, first of all, Serbian and Croatian, is denying that reality of BiH is historically and internationally recognized,” added Beslin.
