The 29th anniversary of the massacre that took place in Bascarsija, in Halaci Street at number 5, was marked by laying flowers, a minute of silence and learning the Fatiha, BHRT writes.

As it was announced from the Government of Canton Sarajevo, this sad event happened on this day, August 23, 1992, during the siege of Sarajevo. That day, a grenade killed eight and seriously wounded three civilians in the historical and cultural center of Sarajevo.

Dženan Aljević, Mahir Ferhatović, Tarik Harba, Esma Muratović, Meliha Muratović-Spahić, Almasa Spahić, Mahira Spahić and Ismet Suljić were killed.

“We are here to preserve the memory of the victims, to preserve the truth from oblivion, which is very important and which is part of the culture of memory, and it is important for future generations,” said the president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children in Siege Sarajevo. 95., Fikret Grabovica.

Flowers were laid by members of the families of the killed, representatives of the Association of Parents of Killed Children of besieged Sarajevo ’92 -’95, the Union of Civilian Victims of War CS, the Municipality of Stari Grad and the City of Sarajevo
