trcanjeThe NGO Marathon Sarajevo organized successfully yesterday the second race for girls in B&H – “Girls on the run”. The winner is Biljana Cvijanović who won the first place at the Sarajevo half marathon earlier too.

“Rahima Zukić won the second place while Selma Zrnić won the third place. In the competition of the School of running “Klix” won Almedina Šabić who won a valuable sports watch for runners.” – said for Klix Erol Mujanović, the executive director of the NGO Marathon Sarajevo.

The cash prizes went to the first three participants. The first prize is worth 300 BAM, the second 200 BAM and the third 100 BAM. All participants won T-shirts especially made for this occasion while the first three participants received medals as well.

Mujanović said that the number of participants was increased this year which was also the goal of yesterday’s event. There were 305 participants this year which is 50 % more than last year.

“Our goal is to reach the number of several thousand participants in the future. The number of participants in the “Klix” School of running proves we are getting there. Man had a secondary role yesterday, and the capital one definitively was reserved for the girls.” – said Mujanović.

The race started at 16:00 o’clock in front of the hotel Bristol, and three kilometres were short enough even for those girls who don’t train regularly.

The sports project “Girls on the run” was organized in order to promote a healthy and active life of our citizens but also to help fight discrimination and prejudices in our society.

The organizers wish to contribute in this way to marking the Week of peace, building a healthier and more modern environment and sports events like this one really have a long history in all modern countries and gather up to 30 000 participants.
