At least 38 Vietnamese tourists have gone missing on the South Korean island of Jeju after arriving in the region last month, local media reported.

A group of 90 tourists arrived in Jeju from Nha Trang, Vietnam, on a VietJet Air charter flight on November 14, Yonhap news agency reported, citing the Jeju Tourism Organization.

The tourists were scheduled to return on November 17, but 38 of them disappeared as the rest of the group boarded a return flight.

South Korean authorities have launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the missing tourists by checking surveillance cameras.

According to the immigration office, tourists can stay on the island without a visa for up to 30 days, and the missing tourists can legally stay on the island until December 14, AA writes.
