47.000 Customers are still without Electricity amid Heavy Snow across BiH

Due to continued precipitation and increasing snowdrifts, the supply of electricity in areas under the jurisdiction of Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (EPBiH) remains disrupted, with around 47.000 customers still without power. The outages have been caused by faults on 35 kV, 20 kV, and 10 kV power lines, due to the weight of wet snow and fallen trees. Numerous faults have also been reported on the low-voltage network.

“The most severe situation remains in the Una-Sana Canton (USC), where 25% of customers in Bihac, Cazin, Bosanska Krupa, Buzim, Bosanski Petrovac, Kljuc, Sanski Most, and Velika Kladusa are without power. Over 14.000 customers are without electricity in Celic, Gradacac, Lukavac, and Srebrenik in Tuzla Canton (TC), and around 9.000 consumers in Central Bosnia Canton (CBC). In Zenica, Tesanj, Maglaj, Vares, and Zavidovici, within the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC), around 4.800 customers remain without power,” stated EPBiH.

In the Canton Sarajevo (CS) and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), faults have caused power outages in Tarcin, Jablanica, and Konjic.

“Electrotechnical teams from EPBiH branches are working intensively to repair faults and normalize supply. However, the terrain configuration and difficult access to facilities pose challenges for the work. Given the forecast for continued snowfall, which will impact the stability of electricity supply, EPBiH calls on its customers for patience and understanding in case of outages,” the statement added.

It should be noted that, as previously reported by the Elektroprivreda of Republika Srpska (EP RS), electricity supply is also disrupted in areas under their distribution, leaving tens of thousands of households without power as well.
