On occasion of World Theater Day, tonight at 20:00 at the National Theater Sarajevo the National Theater Tuzla will host with the play ‘Lary Tompson: Show must go on’.
The play will be performed based on the text by Dušan Kovačević, adopted and directed by Sulejman Kupusović.
”At one point World Theater Day was a very serious thing. That was a period when MESS began on this day, and ended on 6 April, on the day of the liberation of Sarajevo. It was a time when people hated, loved one another, celebrated together …”, said Director Sulejman Kupusović.
He added that the play Lary Tompson: Show must go on of Tuzla National Theater is symbolically the best possible theme for this date.
”This is a claustrophobic comedy that speaks about a claustrophobic situation-the play should begin, but everything goes against it…regardless, the actors gather and go on out of spite, for their public”, explains Kupusović, drawing a parallel with Freddie Mercury, and added how the theater has always been and is still a place where you can escape.
Kupusović said how The Show Must Go On is currently the most populous play, and that it gathers the entire ensemble of Tuzla National Theater, mostly students from the Academy of Fine Arts.
On 30 March the Tuzla National Theater will mark its 65th anniversary. During this period, there were 46 premieres, over 10.000 reruns, and over one million visitors.
