69 Juveniles were convicted last Year in BiH

Last year, a total of 69 juveniles were convicted, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.

Of the total number of convicts, sanctions were imposed in 94.2 percent of cases, and juvenile prison sentences for 5.8 percent.

Last year, the Prosecutor’s Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina resolved 415 reports of crimes committed by minors, which is five more reports than the year before, according to the report of the BiH Statistics Agency.

Out of the total number of reports about the committed criminal offense against minors, 46.3 percent were dismissed, for 6.3 percent the preparatory procedure was suspended, while for 47.5 percent of the cases a proposal was submitted for imposing a sanction.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 8,142 adults were convicted last year, which is 6.11 percent less than the year before, the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina adds.

Of the total number of convicts, 92.32 percent of court verdicts were handed down to men, while property crimes were the most numerous.

Among reported persons, the share of property crimes in relation to the total number was 27.77 percent, among accused persons 13.05 percent, and among convicted persons 12.13 percent.

Prosecutor’s Offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina solved 21,811 reports of crimes committed by adults last year, which is 3,182 reports or 17.08 percent more than the previous year.

Of the total number of reports, 85.01 percent refer to known perpetrators, and 14.99 percent to unknown perpetrators.

At the same time, of the total number of applicants, 88.31 percent refer to registered men.

In the same period, 8,691 decisions (charges) were made, which is 680 charges or 7.26 percent less than in 2020.
