“You were with us when it was the hardest of times and you have remained our greatest friends. Tonight we stand with you, with the American people and the government, in a joint fight against the coronavirus pandemic,” is stated in a message to of Sarajevo mayor Abdulah Skaka.
The Sarajevo City Hall tonight has been illuminated in the colors of the American flag with a message of solidarity and support to the people and the government of the United States in these challenging times.
“The people and authorities of the United States of America are a proven ally and friend of the people and state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the City of Sarajevo.
This is a symbolic act by which we send an important message in the days when the whole world is facing unprecedented danger. I am convinced that the people of the United States will find the strength and capacity to defeat this pandemic. It is our responsibility and obligation to give our friends a hand of support and solidarity,” said the Mayor of Sarajevo.
The United States has become the world’s largest hotspot for the spread of this dangerous virus with more than half a million people affected, with more than 22,000 people dead.
The city of New York has been hit the hardest and the number of infected people is growing daily. The US government is making tremendous efforts to combat the spread of the virus.
