Arnes Ljubijankic from Kladusa is part of the Mercedes Benz company in Stuttgart and their Mercedes-AMG team that works on assembling the models of this prestigious German car manufacturer.
The AMG factory in the small town of Affalterbach, about thirty kilometers from Stuttgart, is the most prestigious part of the Mercedes concern. It produces high-end sports cars whose average price is not less than 100,000 euros, and all vehicles are made by hand, only with the help of mechanics’ tools.
As Arnes explained, the top craftsmen at AMG work without the help of machines, only with the use of the most common tools, which is the main value of Mercedes AMG, and the names of the craftsmen who made them are known exactly.
He made prestigious models
One of them them is Arnes, who assembled prestigious models such as C63, E63, G63, GLC63, GLE63, GLS63 MAYBACH and Aston Martin.
”Stuttgart is the city of the star of Mercedes Benz and AMG. As a child, I dreamed of working in such a company and I often went to the museum and observed those vehicles. I studied there and tried my best to one day be a part of such a company, fortunately, I succeeded in that,” said Arnes.
One man, one engine
Unlike mass production, each Mercedes-AMG engine is traditionally assembled by hand, according to the philosophy: “One man, one engine”.
”One AMG technician assembles the complete engine in the AMG workshop in Affalterbach and is therefore responsible for everything from the installation of the crankshaft in the engine block to the assembly of the vehicle camshaft and cables, as well as topping up the oil. Finally, his signature is placed on the engine plate. The special production techniques used in Affalterbach were already taken into account during the design and development phases for the new AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, which opened up new scope and possibilities in terms of engine design, ” he explained.
The examination is carried out with a special test
During the engine assembly process, each engine goes through various tests and the entire fuel supply system is tested for possible leaks to the extent that individual fuel molecules can be detected.
”Then all engine functions are tested with a special test, using simulated resistance and pressure, as well as the latest methods of measuring sound and noise in the air. And finally, a fully automatic image processing system is used to check the delivery status of the completed engine,” stressed Arnes.
Only highly qualified technicians with many years of experience work in the AMG engine shop.
”The highest precision and attention to detail is a given during the manual assembly process. All phases of operation are subject to strict Mercedes-Benz quality criteria that are also applied to all other series-produced engines. After all, even a high-performance AMG engine must demonstrate the reliability and long service life typical of Mercedes,” he explained.
Life in Stuttgart
Arnes, together with his family, has been living in Germany for a long time, but he says that he is very happy to visit his beloved Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
”As for life in Stuttgart, I can’t complain, everything is reallygood. My family is here, I hang out with our people from BiH who are also very successful here in every sector. There are many cafes, restaurants, and shops run by our people, and I must say that here in Stuttgart we succeed in everything we set out to do,” he concluded.
