A Cafe in Tuzla where Persons with Down Syndrome work soon to be closed?

The cafe in Tuzla, which employs people with Down’s syndrome and other types of disabilities, is close to closing due to the fact that, unfortunately, the number of visitors is decreasing.

The public was informed about this today by the Club “Zmajevo Srce” – Down syndrome cafe.

“Our only guest in the Club today, our Edima Efendić Džinić. Yesterday we did not have a single guest. In general, our turnover does not exceed 20 BAM. Thank you to everyone who has been with us during the year”, they stated.

They pointed out that the Board of Directors is seriously considering closing the doors of the catering establishment forever from July 1, because they believe that everything is losing its meaning.

“It was only thanks to the support of elementary schools, kindergartens and colleges, certain associations and individuals that we managed to survive, hoping that things would get better. In the end, we managed to explain to ourselves that support through social networks is the only thing we will get. There is no support in real life,” they stated.

At the end of this sad news, they said that in any case, for all of them, this was the most beautiful part of their lives and they were looking forward to every guest.

“Because a guest means more to us than in an ordinary cafe,” they said.

Employees and leaders of the association at the opening in May of last year believed that the support will be wider in the coming period, expressing the hope that this story will be a good example for other BiH cities that will realize the same project.
The concept of this cafe was no different from any other restaurant, but its special value is the smiles of the employees.

The cafe is located in the center of Tuzla, in the immediate vicinity of Turalibeg’s mosque and was opened thanks to the Dragon’s Heart Association.
