A Doctor from BiH, despite his serious Illness, comes to Work with Oxygen

Doctor Aleksandar Babić from Trebinje suffers from cystic fibrosis and has Kartagener’s syndrome, but he selflessly comes to work every day and helps patients. His fellow doctors expressed their desire to help him in his treatment.

As his colleague Ivica Zdravković wrote on his Facebook, Aca is 47 years old, married, works as a doctor in a health center. And he’s on oxygen all day, given that he’s battling cystic fibrosis, which has destroyed his lungs.

“He fights like a lion. He goes to work under oxygen. He can’t. And it’s been like that for years,” he said.
Considering Aca’s selflessness and passion for helping people, Zdravković decided to find a way to help him. He wrote to the University Clinic for Thoracic Surgery in Vienna, which in the last few years has performed the most lung transplants in Europe, to examine him and operate if possible.

Given that they haven’t answered him yet, Zdravković hopes that one of his colleagues has contact with the doctors in Vienna at the aforementioned clinic so that they can urge them to just examine him and tell them how much surgery is possible.

His case is particularly difficult considering that he has Kartagener’s syndrome, which means that all his organs are located in the wrong position, in the sense that the heart is on the right, the liver is on the left and so on, Klix.ba reports.
