A Doctor from BiH is among the Finalists for the “Medical Oscars”

Gordana Bukara-Radujkovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is among the finalists of the 10th International Medis Awards, also known as the “Medical Oscars,” and the award ceremony will be held on March 7th in Ljubljana.

The International Expert Committee of the International Medis Awards for Medical Research has completed the evaluation of 242 scientific research papers. 148 applications met the high criteria for nominations for the International Medis Awards this year. The International Expert Commission also selected 18 finalists; among them is Gordana Bukara-Radujkovic from BiH. For ten years now, the competition has been rewarding excellent scientific research achievements of doctors and pharmacists from Central and Southeastern European countries. The grand award ceremony will be held on March 7th, 2024, in Ljubljana, where the winners in each field will be announced among the finalists.

Gordana Bukara-Radujkovic has been selected as a finalist in the field of pediatrics with her submitted article titled “Evidence of increasing incidence of type 1 diabetes and ketoacidosis among children in the Republika Srpska (RS) in the period 2017–2022 with special focus on COVID-19 global pandemic years”. It was published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Public Health.

For the 10th International Medis Awards, doctors and pharmacists who have published their scientific research papers in reputable scientific publications with an impact factor higher than 1.500 were eligible to apply. This year, 242 applications were received from Austria, BiH, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. Out of them, 148 applications met the high criteria for nominations for the International Medis Awards. The grand award ceremony will take place on March 7th, 2024, in Ljubljana. The competition was founded in 2014 by the Slovenian pharmaceutical company Medis, which remains the main sponsor of the competition.
