As part of the second round of the League of Nations, the BiH national team hosted the Romanian national team in Bucharest and recorded their first victory in this season’s edition of the League of Nations in front of empty stands. Our team’s great game resulted in a 4:2 victory, which is a great prelude to the match with favored Sweden on Friday in Zenica.
Already in the 8th minute, Bosnia and Herzegovina had a chance to take the lead, but Tabaković missed from an incredible opportunity. He came out alone in front of the Romanian goalkeeper, but he shot wide. In the 12th minute, BiH takes the lead. Esmir Bajraktarević passed on the right side, threw the ball into the penalty area, where Armin Gigović did a great job and put the BiH team in the lead.
In the 16th minute, Ermin Mahmić received the first yellow card of the match, after a foul near the center of the pitch. Just three minutes later, BiH doubled the lead. First, Amar Memić brilliantly won a corner, which was taken by Ivan Bašić. In the right place was Tarik Muharemović who scored the second goal of the match.
The Romanians had their first chance in the 22nd minute, but Zlomislić made a great save from Stanciu’s shot from 20 meters away, and soon after that, the goalkeeper of the BiH team saved his goal after a dangerous shot by Birligea.
Birligea soon redeemed himself, when he took advantage of a mistake by the BiH defense and in the 28th minute reduced the advantage of the BiH team to 1:2. He did best in the jump between Muharemović and Kolašinac and defeated Zlomislić.
In the 40th minute, another goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Alajbegović shot from a distance, the goalkeeper of Romania failed to catch the ball, which bounced to Tabaković, and this time he was accurate and increased the score to 3:1 for the BiH national team.
The score did not change until the end of the half, and our team went to rest with a well-deserved advantage.
In the continuation of the match, the coach of Romania immediately made two changes, while Barbarez sent the same 11 players from the first half onto the field again.
In the 55th minute, a new goal for our selection. Again, Bajraktarević made a great pass into the penalty area, and Mahmić headed the ball behind the goalkeeper of the home team for 4:1.
The Romanians scored another goal through Cicaldau in the 62nd minute. The Romanian representative shot from over 20 meters and beat goalkeeper Zlomislić for 2:4.
The coach Barbarez took Mahmić and Bajraktarević out of the game right after that, and Ermedin Demirović and Ajdin Hasić entered the game, for whom this was his debut for the BiH selection, while Jovo Lukić entered the game in the 74th minute instead of Tabaković. Four minutes after that, Lukić had a great chance, but the ball ended up over the goal. In the 80th minute, Demirović also had a great chance after Kolašinac’s penetration, but the ball went past the post of the Romanian goal.
Benjamin Tahirović and Nihad Mujakić entered the game in the 81st minute as part of the B&H selection, while Gigović and Kolašinac left the field, who handed over the captain’s armband to Demirović.
In the 89th minute, Birligea hit the BH goal net, but the goal was disallowed due to the obvious offside in which the Romanian found himself.
In the end, with three minutes of extra time, the score was 4:2 for the BiH national team and a great victory against Romania, thus continuing the positive streak against this selection.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has four points after two rounds, and in the next round they welcome Sweden at home. That match, which will be played on Friday, October 2, will also have a special significance, because captain Edin Džeko will say goodbye to the BiH jersey.
