A Kosovar escaped Prison for the Ninth Time

Kosovar authorities have officially issued a search warrant for Faton Hajrizi, a man who escaped from Kosovar prisons for the ninth time on Saturday.

Hajrizi, imprisoned for the murder of a Russian soldier and other criminal offenses, escaped early in the morning from Smrekonica prison.

This time, as in previous spectacular escapes, Hajrizi managed to leave the prison without being caught by the police. Reportedly, he escaped between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Fugitive Hajrizi addressed the public, speaking live on TikTok. He also recounted his escape from prison and said the reason he escaped was because he was unfairly treated, He added that he is out of Kosovo and that he will not return to prison.

“I left that country because I was persecuted there. I was psychologically tormented, I couldn’t take it anymore. In this state, I won’t return to prison. Prisoners there suffer; bail is not granted, and not everyone receives the same treatment,” Hajrizi stated.

“People might say that escaping prison has become a hobby for me, but that is not true. I want to be free like all Albanians. I am not Albin Kurti; what bothers me more is Israel or Ukraine. Are they free? The reason I went to Cannes on the 1st and returned on the 3rd for the weekend, the reason I didn’t go over the weekend is precisely because I gave my word that I didn’t go over the weekend,” he continued.

Hajrizi pointed out the unfair treatment he allegedly received in prison. According to him, provocations from officers at the Smrekonica Correctional Facility pushed him to escape temporarily, though he plans to return and serve the remainder of his sentence when he decides.

“I’m not what the police portray me to be. I am Faton Hajrizi, who was at war as a 14-year-old. I am Faton Hajrizi, who acted in the north in 2006-2007 for the benefit of this country. It’s not normal; I was kept in prison for 23 years, I was 15 years old, and now I am 40. An officer who was serving during Serbia’s time came and told me to wake up at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. It’s not right why he provoked me,” Hajrizi added.

The notorious escape artist initially used bed linens tied to the radiator in his room.

He managed to leave the room through a second-floor window and descended to the first floor. From there, he crossed the outer perimeter of the prison and successfully escaped for the ninth time.

The Smrekonica Correctional Facility, where Hajrizi was serving his sentence, is an open-type institution. His escape was confirmed by the Kosovo Correctional Service, which announced that the police had been informed and that two officers were suspended.

Faton Hajrizi was convicted of killing a Russian soldier. At the time he committed the murder, he was only 15 years old.

However, as he himself admitted, he managed to escape from Mitrovica prison three days after being sent there in 2000, Klix.ba writes.
