The Municipal Court in Sarajevo has issued a Decision, according to which the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Muhamed Ajanović, suspected of abuse of office and receiving a reward, is ordered to be detained for one month, while prohibitive measures have been imposed on the Chief Education Inspector Dalila Hakalović.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo proposed detention for Ajanović due to the risk of flight, stating that if he were released, he could influence witnesses and accomplices, conceal evidence, obstruct criminal proceedings and repeat the criminal offense, which the Court accepted.
Hakalović was ordered to refrain from meeting and contacting witnesses, including by telephone or through an intermediary, or contacting them in any way and approaching them within 100m of witnesses A.M., R.Š., B.S. D., K.F., A.H., D.S., J.M., Z.K., A.K., A.M., T.Z., M.G.V., S.K. and any employee of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, as well as contacting or connecting in any way with the suspects M.A., A.M. Dž.V.
She was also ordered to refrain from undertaking official duties, in a way that the suspect is prohibited from undertaking official duties as an inspector of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, and a measure prohibiting her from visiting certain places, in a way that the suspect is prohibited from visiting the official premises of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, the Faculty of Dentistry and the Dental Clinical Center.
She is charged with committing the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority, which she committed with Ajanović as a co-perpetrator.
The investigation also includes the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton, Adna Mesihović, and Assistant Minister Dženita Viteškić, who are charged with the criminal offense of abuse of office or authority.
The subject of the investigation relates to several actions taken by Muhamed Ajanović, together with Hakalović, Mesihović and Viteškić, in order to secure an illegal extension of his mandate.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo previously stated that Ajanović used his friendly ties with them to ensure that the necessary opinions and instructions were issued by the Ministry, which allowed him not to announce a competition for the election of the dean and to remain in office until amendments to the University Statute were adopted, which would allow him to hold new mandated functions as dean.
