Pensioners’ Protests In Tuzla: We Know There Is Money, Reforms Must Be Carried Out

Peaceful protests by pensioners were held in Tuzla, from which it was stated that this segment of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH)citizens has been brought into a miserable position, for which they blame the current authorities and the leaderships of pensioners’ associations in the Federation of BiH (FBiH).

The organizer of the protest was the New Party of Pensioners–Retirees Tuzla, and around a hundred people gathered.

As they stated, pensioners partly welcome the announced increase in pensions, emphasizing that a state that wants to be a member of the European Union (EU) must ensure a European level of the average pension in relation to the average wage, which is 52 percent of the average wage.

The president of the New Party of Pensioners–Retirees Tuzla, Vehid Jahic, emphasized that pensioners are demanding European parameters.

“We know there is money; the authorities claim there isn’t. However, reforms must be carried out, the situation in society must be put in order, the issue of the grey economy must be resolved, and the issue of an oversized administration must be resolved,” Jahic said, BHRT writes.
