A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern parts of northwest China’s Xinjiang province on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake was recorded at around 3:44 p.m. local time (07:44 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers in Tumxuk county in the province.
There were no immediate reports of any damage when reports were last received.
The China Earthquake Networks Center said the quake had a magnitude of 6.0, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency.
The quake also hit Aheqi county in Xinjiang’s Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, according to Shanghai Daily.
