A Modest Protest in Front of Konjic Hospital: Parents of Deceased Boy Demand Justice, Citizens Absent

On the day he would have celebrated his birthday, a protest was held in front of the Konjic General Hospital in memory of the deceased boy Dženis Duranović. However, instead of a larger gathering of citizens, as the family had expected, only parents, closest family members and one citizen from Donja Jablanica showed up, Radio Konjic reported.

Family’s disappointment over lack of support

The boy’s mother, Elma Duranović, did not hide her sadness and disappointment over the low turnout of citizens, even though the public had been informed about the protest in advance. – Yes, they were aware. Of course, there are many, maybe they are afraid, I was not, said Duranović. She also pointed out that the police had refused to register the gathering, which further complicates the family’s fight for truth and justice.

Serious accusations against the hospital

The parents once again recounted the tragic circumstances under which they lost their son. The boy’s father stressed that less than a month ago he brought his son to the hospital in his arms, but that, as he claims, they waited for three hours without an adequate response from the medical staff.

“I brought the child, they didn’t do anything. I waited for three hours, and nobody did anything, said the father, adding that he held the hospital responsible. – This hospital and who works in it is a disaster. I am pained by the small response of citizens, but we are not giving up. I will fight to the end, I will pursue justice to the end with God’s help,” he emphasized.

The parents also stated that no one from the hospital administration, including the director, contacted them after the death of their child.

A citizen from Donja Jablanica was the only one to provide support

The only citizen present outside the immediate family was Senad Tufek from Donja Jablanica. He said that he came to give moral support to the parents, stressing that it will be difficult for them without wider support from the public.

“Without our support, the support of the citizens, they will hardly be able to enforce justice to the end, said Tufek. He also expressed indignation at the fact that very few people responded to the protest: – I don’t know what’s wrong with these people, they are not even touched by the death of someone’s child. I’m sick of talking because I myself survived the floods in Donja Jablanica and we also didn’t have support then. This is a shame for the people, what they do to us, and we do nothing,” he said.

The legal battle continues

Despite the small number of attendees, the parents said they would not give up. Through a lawyer, they have already filed a lawsuit and announced the continuation of the legal battle.

“We will fight for our son, until the end. Justice must come to light,” said the Duranović family.
