A powerful typhoon forecast to hit eastern Japan from Tuesday could disrupt rail traffic in the region, local media reported.

Typhoon Shanshan is expected to move north towards Japan’s Pacific coast, although its path is still difficult to predict, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported, citing the Japan Meteorological Agency, as quoted by Anadolu.

According to the agency, the typhoon was located around Ogasawara Island on Saturday.

Railway authorities said that the typhoon, if it arrives, will disrupt and suspend rail traffic in the region.

Last week, powerful typhoon Ampil hit Japan, causing disruption to transportation systems, while around 650 flights were canceled in Tokyo.
