The Municipal Court in Sarajevo found Eldin Brajlović guilty of the criminal offense of accepting gifts and other forms of benefit. The first-instance verdict sentenced him to two years and five months in prison.
It is alleged that from the beginning of 2022 until April of the same year, as a prison guard in the semi-open penitentiary institution Sarajevo-Ustikolina Department, he repeatedly demanded 1,000 KM and an iPhone mobile device from a convict. In return, he promised him that he would inform him if searches of the prison cells of convicts were planned, so that he could hide any illegal items he may have.
He also promised that he would influence his superiors in order to get the use of non-prison facilities, and that he would not physically harass him for no reason, which he had already done in the previous period, hitting him with a rubber baton while he was making a call on the prison telephone booth. During the use of extra-institutional benefits, i.e., a free weekend outside the penitentiary, convict B.B. met with Brajlović at a gas station on Stup in Sarajevo in order to give him the requested money and a mobile device. Then, on April 15, 2022, on the order of the KS Prosecutor’s Office, Brajlović was arrested by members of the Federal Police Administration with marked 500 KM and an iPhone cell phone which the convict handed over to him. After the deprivation of liberty, the accused was suspended from his workplace, announced the KS Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.
