A total of Twelve People died of Influenza in BiH in several Days

Five patients died as a result of severe acute respiratory infection in Republika Srpska (RS) from 25th to 27th January, making the total number of influenza victims in this BiH entity increased to 12.

The University Clinical Center of Banja Luka has reported four and Zvornik hospital one patients who were positive for virus A (X1) pdm09 and died.

They are all middle-aged and older people, it was confirmed by the RS Public Health Institute.

The first cases of patients who died of influenza in this entity were reported on 21st January.

 

The Institute warns that the activity of influenza virus is increasing in most countries in the northern hemisphere and the circulation of influenza A and B viruses are registered.

Data from 104 countries that have officially reported data show that positive influenza teste samples were the most positive of type A (98.3 percent).

“The influenza virus strains that are currently dominant and currently circulating in the northern hemisphere by the genetic characterization so far correspond to the strains contained in the vaccines. This is a very important piece of information regarding the prevention of this disease and the benefits that everyone who has been vaccinated this year,” was stated by the Institute.
