Protests for the Preservation of Drinking Water in Kakanj

Citizens’ protests for the preservation of drinking water began in Kakanj at exactly 12 o’clock.

The devastated Trstionica River and Mehorić Nature Park are also threatened due to the works in the Adriatic Metals BiH mine in Vares. Water containing mercury, arsenic, lead and other heavy metals is not suitable for use, and its use can cause cancerous diseases and long-term consequences for human health.

Due to mining, the source of Bukovica, from which Kakanj is supplied with drinking water, and which is located in the concession field, is threatened.

Citizens and environmental activists say that they are in favor of development, but not at the expense of destroying drinking water, natural resources and human health.
