The cardboard silhouettes in the shape of children that the members of the “AntiDayton” movement placed along the park on the morning of May 31st, soon lost their shape due to the rain, and are still stuck in the ground in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in Sarajevo, which caused the indignation of Prijedor activists and members of the Initiative ”Because it concerns me”, which every year mark the Day of White Ribbons in Prijedor.
On the Facebook profile Day of the White Ribbons, photos from Sarajevo were published, showing the installation made of cardboard, with the comment that it is a shame and that it desecrates the memory of the murdered victims.
”Is there anyone in Sarajevo to stop this kind of mockery of the murdered children of Prijedor on a public surface in the center of the city? People please do something to stop this,” they announced on the Facebook account.
The representative of the parents of the murdered children of Prijedor, Fikret Bacic, told that this is a shame for the murdered children and their family members. He says that the people of Prijedor are victims who survived torture, which still causes them difficulties, and those who returned to this city continue to suffer various humiliations and segregation.
He explains that the Day of White Ribbons should not have been organized in this way and that the move of the “AntiDayton” movement surprised him.
”It is a real shame that in memory of 102 children, the children of Prijedor, cardboards are placed on some poles. It does not benefit anyone, it is really, to say the least, a shame for the murdered children and for us parents,” said Bacic.
The “AntiDayton” movement announced a few days earlier the setting of the installation on White Ribbon Day. Nihad Alickovic, editor and columnist of the portal of this movement, asked all those who want to help him in the realization.
Edin Ramulic, an activist from Prijedor, previously accused Alickovic on his Facebook profile of trying to profit from the murder of children of Prijedor, calling him a “terrorist”, while he wrote on his profile for Ramulic that he privatizes the victims.
Nihad Alickovic says that he knew that this kind of media attention would happen, but not on this scale.
”He cannot call us extremists just because we posted 102 silhouettes. What’s extreme about that? If it is an extreme truth and if it can be called that way, then let it, then I am the biggest extremist on the planet, and radical, and extreme and so on,” explained Alickovic, Avaz reports.
