The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, and the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, attended the main commemoration on the occasion of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s National Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Day, held at the Westminster Church House in London.
Komšić used that opportunity to emphasize the importance of preserving the truth about the Srebrenica genocide and nurturing the culture of remembrance. He pointed out that hate speech, nationalist rhetoric, insults, and dehumanization of Bosniaks as a nation continue, denying the right to preserve the memory.
The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, also addressed the attendees. He placed a special emphasis on the role of the United Kingdom in preserving the truth about genocide, and sent out a clear warning to the international community due to current security threats and malign influence, which, as he said, are once again jeopardizing the security of the Western Balkans.
Bećirović warned that the past cannot be changed, but that modern destructive ideologies must be recognized and stopped in time.
