A nineteen years old man, originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, was sentenced on Friday to three years in prison for belonging to the Islamic State (ISIL), whose views he openly propagated on social networks.

As stated in the verdict, he must serve one year, while he will be eligible for parole during the remainder of his sentence.

When, specifically, it is about the propagation of the Islamic State, then it is stated that this young man publicly published songs glorifying ISIL and their struggle. He spread the messages of radical Islamist preachers, and described ISIL as a “fortress against all enemies.”

In his posts on Instagram, he glorified the death of members of ISIL, and on his profile he shared two stories about the fighters of this terrorist organization.

In addition to this, the indictment charged him with other violent offenses, which is sufficient evidence for the violent past of this young man. Namely, on May 29, 2023, he threatened those present in a bakery with an empty gun, as a result of which two customers suffered serious trauma after the gun was pointed at them.

Just four days earlier, this 19-year-old, together with an accomplice, threatened with the same gun in front of Florisdorf station. Allegedly, they first argued with the man, and then put the gun to his face.

However, as reported by the Austrian media, it is more than obvious that this young thug does not even need a weapon to threaten people. Namely, he knocked a passerby to the ground and punched him in the face. The victim ended up in the hospital with multiple injuries.
