The rain that has been falling for days has caused rivers and stormwater to overflow in the Una-Sana Canton as well. The situation is the most difficult in Sanski Most, where the Bliha river overflowed, in the town of Alagića Polje, endangering about 15 residential and auxiliary buildings.
Last night in the evening, the Bliha river overflowed its banks, after which there was an uncontrolled expansion of the river’s flow, so that half an hour after the spill, the Bliha and the Zdena came together in that place, creating a huge strip of territory that was flooded and a large number of residential buildings were in remained under water for a short period of time.
The water penetrated several buildings along the courses of these two rivers, and in the area of the local communities of Zdena, Husimovci, Pobriježje – Podlug, Vrše, Donji Kamengrad, Gornji Kamengrad, Fajtovci, Novo Naselje and Stari Majdan from the river Majdanuša.
Road communications Sanski Most – Stari Majdan, Sanski Most – Fajtovci in Kamengrad are also threatened by the flood, where traffic is suspended from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
In the area of Bihać, the situation is the most critical in the Kulen Vakuf, because due to heavy rainfall and precipitation from the surrounding hills, the water level of the Una and Unca rivers has risen, and the river Una has overflowed from its bed, whose water level is 50 centimeters above the critical point.
Due to the danger of the buildings, members of the Fire Department were sent to intervene with water pumps and sandbags. In the Orašac Municipality, an intervention was carried out by digging a rain channel and removing landslides on the Orašac – Kulen Vakuf road.
Rivers also overflowed in Cazin, Ključ and Bosanska Krupa, but there are no flooded buildings.
The M-14 main road in the direction of Bosanska Krupa-Bosanska Otoka in the town of Stegarić was closed to traffic this morning due to a landslide, and now it is a single carriageway.
Although the rainfall has stopped, the water level of the rivers is still rising as of this morning. Hope for calming the situation in Sanski Most is given by the fact that the water level of Bliha, which was a maximum of 183 centimeters this morning, has been decreasing since this morning, and at 11 am it was 106 centimeters.
