The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Association of Citizens of Victims of the ’92-95 War “April 16 Ahmića” sent an open letter to the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sanja Vlaisavljević, calling on her to resign from that position.
“We are addressing you on behalf of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Association of Victims of the ’92-95′ War ‘April 16, Ahmići’, and we invite you to resign with dignity from the position of Minister in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to stop pretending to be a victim in public,” they state from associations.
The association’s reaction came after FBiH Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević stated during a television appearance that war criminals need to be rehabilitated after serving their prison sentences.
“You caused the public revolt yourself, using the position of minister, and publicly demanding, as you said on the N1 television show, rehabilitation for convicted war criminals. You refer to international norms in general, without specifying exactly which ones, because such do not exist in international law when is about the rehabilitation of war criminals, except for those who are found to have been unjustly convicted, which you are obviously alluding to when it comes to Dario Kordić and others like him. Honorable Minister, we invite you to resign with dignity from the position of Minister of Culture and Sports of the FBiH and “spare yourself and us from further harassment and humiliation. Someone who publicly calls for the rehabilitation of convicted criminals does not deserve to hold a position that brings enormous privileges in society,” the association said.
