After Floods: Six Families will be supported with 42,000 BAM to make Successful Business

Six families from Bijeljina, Travnik, Doboj, Goražde and Zavidovići will be supported with total od 42,000 BAM to transform their entrepreneurship ideas into successful small businesses. Financial resources will be used for procurement of equipment and tools, while all newly established businesses will be provided with mentoring during the first year of work.

Activities to support small entrepreneurs are part of the economic empowerment conducted by the Flood Recovery – Housing interventions Programme. Programme, valued at EUR 15 million, is financed by the European Union in the amount of EUR 12.5 million, in cooperation with the entity governments, partner municipalities and cities, as well as UNDP in BiH.

During past two months, three training modules on entrepreneurship were successfully organized for the participant so they could acquire skills needed to develop and manage their own small businesses. In the upcoming period, participants will start with the registration of their small businesses.

Besides the support in the area of small business, Programme beneficiaries will also receive support in the area of agricultural production and employment. As a result, almost 200 households from 34 municipalities and cities in BiH will get an opportunity to achieve regular and sustainable income. In addition to economic empowerment, Programme will also provide safe housing for 2,800 people whose homes were destroyed or badly damaged in 2014 floods and landslides.

Flood Recovery Programme – Housing Interventions provides support to self-sustainable recovery through provision of housing units and economic empowerment of socially vulnerable population whose homes were damaged or destroyed in 2014 floods and landslides. Programme is implemented by UNDP in BiH, together with the International Organisation for Migrations (IOM), Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), Hilfswerk International (HW) and partner municipalities and cities.

Programme is implemented in Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Bratunac, Brod, Cazin, Doboj, Doboj Istok, Domaljevac-Šamac, Donji Žabar, Goražde, Gračanica, Gradiška, Jezero, Kakanj, Kalesija, Kostajnica, Laktaši, Lopare, Maglaj, Modriča, Novi Grad, Odžak, Orašje, Petrovo, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Sapna, Srbac, Srebrenik, Šamac, Šekovići, Šipovo, Teslić, Tešanj, Travnik, Tuzla, Ugljevik, Vareš, Vlasenica, Vogošća, Zavidovići, Zenica, Zvornik and Žepče.
