The Agreement on Military Assistance for BiH between the Ministry of Defence of BiH and the Ministry of Defence of the People’s Republic of China was signed on December 6, 2017, and it was signed by the Minister of Defence of BiH, Marina Pendes, and the Ambassador of PR China in BiH, Chen Bo.
With this agreement, the Chinese side decided to donate 10 million CNY, which is around 2.5 million BAM, and it will be reflected through a delivery of specialized engineering and construction machines for the Armed Forces of BiH.
Before the signing of the Agreement, Minister Pendes thanked the Ambassador Chen Bo for all the help and the support that the Government of China provides for BiH in relation to further strengthening of the capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH.
This agreement will especially strengthen engineering capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH, which will be involved in the missionary tasks, and they are related to the assistance of civilian structures in cases of natural disasters and the construction and repair of the necessary infrastructure in our local communities.
Both Pendes and the Ambassador Chen Bo noted successful defence cooperation and they expressed their desire to further continue this cooperation in the future period, and they also emphasized the importance of this donation, not only for the Armed Forces of BiH, but also for all citizens of BiH.
Our ministry already signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation and two protocols on the military donation with the Chinese Ministry of Defence.
These documents were signed back in 2005, 2010 and 2013 and they referred to the assistance in the field of military education and training, military technique and technology, military sciences and research work, military culture, sports and medicine, and the exchange of experience on the participation in international peace keeping missions.
