B&H is expected to send a military contingent to the Republic of Mali in the first half of this year as part of a peacekeeping mission of the United Nations.
The B&H Ministry of Defense told Fena that this Ministry is ready to send members of the B&H Armed Forces as part of the first rotation in the peacekeeping mission in Mali.
This is an initiative that has gone through the proper parliamentary procedure and awaits the decision of the B&H Presidency. Pursuant to the regulation on the participation of B&H Armed Forces in the peacekeeping mission, the necessary preparations have already been completed in terms of the selection of members of the Armed Forces who will be sent.
An evaluation of the B&H Ministry of Defense is for the first rotation in Mali to take place in March or April. With these activities, the successful engagement of members of the B&H Armed Forces will continue in peacekeeping missions in the world.
After the completion of the support operations in Iraq, in which B&H soldiers were part of in several rotations, the B&H contingent are present in the ISAF Mission in Afghanistan, where there are 53 members of the B&H Armed Forces, as well as in the peacekeeping mission MONUSCO in the Congo, with five members.
