touristsThe positive trend of tourist visits in BiH and Sarajevo continued in 2016, so a total of 145,216 tourists arrived in the first five months, which represents an increase by 11 % compared to the same period last year, according to information from the Institute of Informatics and Statistics of CS.

“The number of Arabs is not so noticeable, but their presence is manifested in the number of overnight stays. The largest number of them are coming from the UAE and Kuwait, but they are usually staying in private accommodation. They are staying for longer period of time, from 15 days to 2 months,” said spokesman for the Tourist Board of CS, Asja Hadziefendic-Mesic.

There has been an increase of tourists from China, and several large Asian tour operators requested more information in order to list BiH and Sarajevo in their European tours.

“Chinese tourists are very grateful tourists and they are known as tourists who spend the most. Most of tourists are also coming from Croatia, Turkey, South Korea, Slovenia, the USA, Serbia, Germany, Italy and Austria.

Hadziefendic-Mesic announced that more tourists from Qatar should be coming to Sarajevo soon, since airline Doha-Sarajevo will be established since November.
