As stated in the announcement of the ambassador of the permanent mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to the United Nations (UN), Sven Alkalaj, the voting was carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.

“The Permanent Mission of BiH to the UN New York, in accordance with the established procedure for obtaining voting instructions at UN sessions, acted in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH when voting on the above-mentioned resolution, as it does in all other cases,” it was stated in the announcement.

Namely, the mission of BiH abstained during the vote in the Third Committee of the UN on the situation of human rights in Iran. This vote was contrary to the vote of the European Union (EU) member states who voted for the adoption of the resolution.

The EU Office in Sarajevo expressed regret for such a vote by BiH and emphasized that they expect BiH to continue working on harmonization with the EU’s positions, Klix.ba reports.
