All Activities on the Construction of Mini Hydroelectric Power Plants on Neretvica have been suspended

The Foundation Atelier for Community Transformation – ACT announced on its Facebook page that Neretvica is free and that mini hydroelectric plants will not be built there.

As they stated, after a three-year intensive struggle against the realization of the project to build a total of 15 mini hydroelectric power plants on the Neretvica river basin, they have apparently reached a positive epilogue.

“Today, the Aarhus Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which has been leading the legal team of the ‘Neretvica – Pusti me da tecem’ movement since the very beginning of this struggle, received an official response from Elektroprivreda BiH, which, among other things, states: “The concession contract for the mini hydroelectric power plants on Neretvica dated February 23rd, 2009 was terminated, which suspended all activities on the construction of the mini hydroelectric power plants on Neretvica”,” it is stated in the post from a few days ago.

They point out that many will take credit for this great and historic success in one of the key struggles that resulted in the ban on the construction of new mini hydroelectric power plants throughout the territory of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) entity, but that the people of the Neretvica valley are the ones who deserve the greatest credit.

Only and exclusively the citizens who, honorably, without any interest, defended Neretvica with their bodies by standing in front of the heavy machinery of the consortium Amitea d.o.o. Mostar and GPI d.o.o. Konjic. The people of the Neretvica Valley thank everyone who contributed to this fight, no matter how big it was, with the message that we remain awake and on constant vigilance,” they state in the announcement.

In the end, they said that they firmly resisted the various pressures that came from inside and outside and that they did not deviate even a millimeter from their noble goal, Klix.ba reports.
