The Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo said goodbye on social media to Erdoan Morankić, a student of this higher education institution and a young man from Brčko who died in a tram accident in Sarajevo at the age of 23.

“With immense sadness and broken hearts, we say goodbye to our dear student Erdoan Morankić, a third-year student at the Department of Painting.

It is difficult to find words that can express the pain of the tragic loss of a young colleague and friend who until yesterday was part of our Academy, our daily meetings, our joint work and the artistic calling to which he devoted himself. Erdoan was present among colleagues and professors not only as a student, but as a good, hardworking and always smiling soul. His warmth, humanity, dedication and immense talent will leave a lasting mark on our collective and in the memories of all who knew and loved him.

The premature departure of Erdoan Morankić comes as an irreparable interruption of a youth, a presence that brought life and meaning to our common space. The void that remains is deeply felt, in the silence that now speaks louder than any words.

In these difficult moments, on behalf of the Academy of Fine Arts, our employees and students, we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. We share your pain and stand with you in mourning. He will remain with us in our thoughts and memories. Rest in peace” – they say from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.
