Ambassador of France to BiH: Soldin was a Bridge between our two Countries

The Embassy of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina paid tribute today to Arman Soldin, a journalist of the French agency AFP, who was killed in Ukraine last year.

Soldin was traveling with a group of journalists and Ukrainian soldiers when they came under rocket attack in Chasiv Yar, near the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.

The Ambassador of France to BiH, Francois Delmas, said that Arman Soldin was Bosnian and French, that is, a bridge between our two countries.

“In Ukraine, he did an exceptional job, uncovering the truth, and his death caused a lot of emotions in BiH and France. In the same way that today there is an award for journalistic courage in France in his honor, it seemed important to us that in BiH there is an award that carries his name,” said the French ambassador.

He points out that on this occasion a scholarship will be established in Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership between the Embassy of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Film Festival.

“In this way, we want to pay tribute to his personality that touched us all. We also want to encourage journalistic courage and provide support to journalists who bring verified information,” Delmas concluded.

Soldin, born in Sarajevo, was a French citizen and the son of Bosnian journalist Sulejman Soldin. He followed the events in Ukraine from the first day of the Russian invasion of that country, Fena writes.
