OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić received today the Ambassador of Greece to BiH Karolos Gadis, who congratulated the Mayor on the election in his name and on behalf of the Mayor of Athens.

During the meeting they spoke of the current cooperation of the Embassy and City Administration, and of the advancement of cooperation between the capital cities in BiH and Greece, especially for 2014.

“Greece will take over the EU Presidency in 2014, and at the same time Sarajevo will be the Center of Europe and the world, because in that year the 100 years since the beginning of World War One and 30 years since the XIV Winter Olympics in Sarajevo will be marked’’, said Ambassador Gadis. He expressed his readiness to help the BiH capital in the realization of the project “Sarajevo 2014”.

Mayor Komšić thanked the Ambassador for the congratulations, and said how joint cooperation between Sarajevo and Athens has to continue through bilateral relations, as well as in the framework of joint associations to which they belong as an Olympic city. Also, Komšić thanked the Ambassador for the support to Sarajevo in organizing the manifestation in the framework of the project “Sarajevo 2014”.

“The year 2014 is important for Sarajevo, when our city will send a message of peace, co-existence and unity in Europe and in the world”, said Komšić.
