Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Matthew Field, together with his deputy Dr Ruth Wiseman, and Nick Latt, Head of the Western Balkans Programme Unit at Foreign Office, visited the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) today and had a meeting with Ranko Debevec, President of the Court of BiH.

The topics discussed at the meeting included the effects of the project funded by the UK Government and implemented by the AIRE Centre, providing support to the Court of BiH in implementing the European Convention for Human Rights, as well as the continuation of the project. The participants also discussed the implementation of recommendations from OSCE’s report Assessing Needs of Judicial Response to Corruption through Monitoring of Criminal Cases in the part pertaining to the Court of BiH.

Ranko Debevec, President of the Court of BiH, welcomed the Ambassador and extended his gratitude for the continued support of the United Kingdom to the Court of BiH, and highlighted that the rule of law is of crucial relevance to the European perspective of BiH.

Ambassador Field extended his full support to the activities of the Court of BiH, particularly those related to the processing of corruption cases, organized crime cases and war crimes cases, as well as further improvement of the rule of law in the process of the region integration into the EU.
