The American Ambassador to BiH Patrick S. Moon and the Director of USAID David J. Barth, together with their wives, join activists and representatives of 157 organizations in BiH in the global campaign “One Billion Rising” to raise awareness about violence against women today at 14:00 in front of the BBI center in Sarajevo.

In this way, BiH is demanding an end to violence against women. Alongside Sarajevo, the same event will be held in 36 cities throughout BiH.

BiH does not have an official statistic on the number of cases of violence against women, but non-profit organizations have reported a visible increase and according to some estimates only five percent of violence against women are reported.

The Campaign “One Billion Rising” began 15 years ago as a call to react to the statistics that say that one in three women in the world will be raped.
