It is the seventh day that the fire in Luka near Srebrenica has been active and is spreading towards the populated area. Residents are in a panic and are afraid that the fire will not reach their houses.

Local resident of Luka Hamo Zulanović told Fena news agency that the situation is alarming.

“We can’t get the fire under control. The entire fire service from Srebrenica is on the ground, as is the Mayor of the Municipality, Mladen Grujičić. We are doing our best to repair the fire because it came in the immediate vicinity of the houses,” said Zulanović.

He stated that the air in the village is unbearable because of the smoke.

“We are all on our feet and trying to get the fire under control. The entire Drina canyon is burning, from Crni potok to Žepa,” pointed out Zulanović.

In the previous days, the helicopter of the RS service was operating, and these days the helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is also active.
