A nurse from Graz became a hero last week after saving an elderly man and a baby from the River Mur.

Ute Leitner says that she went for a recreational run that morning on the route she usually passes every day when she saw a strange situation in the river.

On the banks of the Moor she saw an elderly man with a baby trying unsuccessfully to get out. It was strange to her that he didn’t call for help, but she approached him because she could see that he was struggling.

Without hesitation, she went down the embankment to the man, who just handed her the baby and said, “Please take it.”

The story is that the child was completely soaked, and that the man himself was in the water as well.

As the police said, he went out for a walk with his grandson in a stroller, but they fell into the river after he fell ill, Klix.ba writes.
