Ana Trisic-Babic appointed acting President of RS

The National Assembly of the Republika Srpska appointed Ana Trišić-Babić as the acting President of the RS tonight at a special session.

48 deputies voted in favor of this decision, while four voted against.

Ana Trišić-Babić graduated in international relations and became involved in BiH foreign policy in the early 2000s. Since 2001, she has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From 2007 to 2015, she served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, and for more than 15 years she was an advisor to Milorad Dodik. She was the manager of various projects.

As is known, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called early elections for the President of the RS from among the Serb people for November 23.

The decision was made after the Court of BiH issued a final verdict against Milorad Dodik, sentencing him to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding public office for failure to implement the decisions of the High Representative.

Pursuant to that verdict, the CEC of BiH had previously stripped Dodik of his mandate as President of the RS.
