Analysis: Increase in Prices of Products and Services in BiH

The prices of products and services used for personal consumption in Bosnia and Herzegovina, measured by the consumer price index, in October of this year compared to the same month last year recorded an average growth of 17.4 percent and food, transportation, and housing costs rose the most.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages in October are on average more expensive by 25.9 percent, transportation by 25.8 percent, housing and overhead expenses by 22.9 percent, restaurants and hotels by 11.6 percent, furniture, household appliances and regular house maintenance by 11.4 percent, recreation and culture by 11.3 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2.7 percent, education by 2.3 percent, healthcare by two percent, communications by 1.4 percent, and other goods and services by 7.8 percent. Clothing and footwear were on average cheaper by 6.7 percent, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.

Consumer prices in October compared to the previous month of this year recorded an average growth of 2.1 percent.

The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, in October compared to September of this year, recorded an average increase of 1.3 percent, housing and overhead expenses by 8.3 percent, transportation by 1.5 percent, clothing and footwear, and furniture and household appliances by 1.4 percent, education by 0.8 percent, healthcare by 0.4 percent, recreation and culture, and restaurants and hotels by 0.7 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.2 percent, and others goods and services by 0.8 percent, Fena news agency reports.
