The leaders of the Croat Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZBiH), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), as well as their coalition partners, signed yesterday in Sarajevo the document “Guidelines, principles and goals in the executive and legislative power at the level of BiH for the period 2022 – 2026″.
The signing of this coalition agreement on the formation of government at the state level was preceded by a meeting of the leaders of the above-mentioned political subjects, where the agreement was finalized.
On behalf of the coalition of HDZ BiH parties, the document was signed by the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, on behalf of the coalition of parties that together with the SDP make up the “Eight”, the signature was put by the president of the SDP, Nermin Nikšić, and on behalf of the SNSD by the president of that party Milorad Dodik.
When it comes to the formation of the executive power at the state level after the elections held in BiH on October 2 this year, in the meantime it has been announced that Borjana Krišto (HDZBiH) is a candidate for the chairperson of the BiH Council of Ministers.
President of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) of BiH, Dragan Čović, said today in Sarajevo that the new majority will be strong enough, both in the Council of Ministers of BiH and in the legislature.
After signing a document with Milorad Dodik (SNSD) and Nermin Nikšić (SDP) called “Guidelines, principles and goals in the executive and legislative power at the level of BiH for the period 2022 – 2026”, Čović said that after a long time they have formed a partnership that was “put on paper” unlike previously forced coalitions.
Čović pointed out that the agreement was reached in a flexible relationship between representatives of the “Eight”, HNS and SNSD and their partners from the RS.
He announced that the Council of Ministers will soon be appointed and expressed his belief that today they are bringing a new dimension to their work.
The leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik said after signing the coalition agreement on the formation of government at the state level with the leaders of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH Dragan Čović and the Social Democratic Party of BiH Nermin Nikšić, who signed the agreement on behalf of the “eight” parties, that an agreement and consensus was reached unusually quickly for BiH and that it is time to move on.
– I think that for the first time we all agreed to see what we can do for progress. We need to agree on the Council of Ministers. This involved serious effort, speed, understanding and appreciation of the partner. This entailed several basic elements, namely to reach the effective formation of the government, the adoption of several important documents for the functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the adoption and unblocking of plans – said Dodik.
As he said, it is clear that there are still differences between these parties regarding membership in NATO, that is, that the parties gathered around the SNSD are against it, while the other parties are in favor.
“We didn’t want to waste a lot of time on that, but we agreed that we will deal with issues of cooperation with security and other agencies and organizations later. Bosnia and Herzegovina has its own reform plan related to defense and cooperation, and cooperation with NATO exists and no one disputes that,” he stated.
He stated that in the past mandate there was no agreement with the Party of Democratic Action (SAD) other than a technical division of positions, and that the problems in the past period arose due to, as he claimed, blockades by the SDA.
The President of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšič, said today in Sarajevo that the new government will do its best to create conditions that will restore hope to the citizens, so that they do not leave the country.
After signing with Dragan Čović (HDZBiH) and Milorad Dodik (SNSD) “Guidelines, principles and goals in the executive and legislative power at the level of BiH for the period 2022 – 2026”, Nikšić said that they had put their differences aside and focused on what they can agree on.
“While we are focusing on the differences and erecting barricades between us, people are leaving from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and our commitment is to cooperate and come to an agreement,” emphasized Nikšić.
He added that the document they signed today contains goals such as European integration, the establishment of the rule of law and socio-economic measures – all things that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to do for its citizens.
Nikšić expressed his belief that citizens will feel a different atmosphere and cooperation between partners after the formation of the BiH Council of Ministers.
