An analysis of groundwater in the Business Zone “Incel” in Banja Luka for the presence of pyralen revealed that the values of polychlorinated biphenyls are within the limits prescribed by the regulation on water classification and categorization of watercourses.

At the request of the Republika Srpska Water Inspectorate, five groundwater samples were taken at the Incel Business Zone for the purpose of testing the presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Sampling and analysis were carried out by an authorized and accredited laboratory “Water Institute” in Bijeljina.

For the purpose of sampling, four piezometers were drilled and installed at locations where earlier analyzes confirmed the presence of pyralen and heavy metals.

In all five groundwater samples, the analysis determined that the values of polychlorinated biphenyls are within the limits prescribed by the Decree on Water Classification and Categorization of Watercourses.

Class II waters, to which both Vrbas and Vrbanja belong, defined a PCB value of 0.02 milligrams per cubic meter, and analyzes determined a value of 0.01 milligrams per meter cubic.
