water2After the information appeared among the citizens of Sarajevo that the quality of water in Canton Sarajevo is undermined, we contacted the Institute of Public Health of Canton Sarajevo, which is responsible for monitoring of the quality.

PUC “Water and Sewage” claimed first in the release that the water quality control is performed on a daily basis and that the water in Sarajevo is safe.

“In relation to the appearance of information on the inadequacy of drinking water in Sarajevo on social networks, we would like to inform citizens that the water in the public water supply system is sanitary valid,” as announced from the PUC “Water and Sewage”.

At the same time, from the Institute of Public Health of CS stated that the water quality control is carried out on a daily basis and that there is no increase in the number of patients with stomach problems or enterocolitis, considering that these symptoms are usually associated with the consumption of sanitary improper water.

“PC Institute for Public Health of Canton Sarajevo is continuously monitoring the quality of water in the territory of our Canton, which is distributed from the central city water supply system. According to the overdue reports of infectious diseases, there is no increase in the number of cases of stomach problems in 2017, nor patients with enterocolitis that can be linked to the consumption of unsafe water.”

As noted, water is safe and in accordance with the Regulation on sanitary safety.

“On the contrary, our epidemiological service has data on a reduced number of reported patients with these symptoms, in comparison to the same period last year. As part of its activities, the Institute conducts continuous quality monitoring and testing water safety in our accredited laboratories and we can say that the water is sanitary valid under the current Regulations on the sanitary safety of drinking water”.

PUC “Water and Sewage” Sarajevo stated that the water in Sarajevo has such quality that it represents an incredible value for the entire city.

“Water in Sarajevo has such quality that it represents an incredible value to the city and we would like to ask the public to help us to preserve its value, for ourselves and for future generations. To achieve this, we must all have the correct information and not allow some unverified and inaccurate information to interfere with our work.”

Institute for Public Health of CS stated that they will conduct enhanced inspections in the future, with the aim of protecting citizens of CS.

“Our field and laboratory teams from the beginning of reduction are implementing enhanced monitoring in accordance with our capacities, and we want to inform you that we will increase the control in the future, all in order to protect the health of citizens of Canton Sarajevo,” they stated.
